New Living Room pic's . . . with new ottoman!

First off, THANK YOU so much for all the new ottoman LOVE! I've been smiling every time my phone beeps with a new comment!
I have a How To: in the works. And I thought I'd answer a couple of FAQ's from yesterday about the ottoman.
  • Yes, I'll definitely pop up a mini how to later this week!
  • I used White denim (from the Fashion section of the fabric store). Yup the very same kind as my summer jeans.
  • I didn't use a pattern, I just kind of measured and then made it as simple as humanly possible!
I thought I should update the Living room photos, so that you can see what's where now! The Green pillows that are on the couch, use to live on the chairs.

And of coarse the addition of the new ottoman! :)

Here's the "Overall" look of the living room:

I'm going to try to add more perspective shots of the house. I realize it's hard to see how all of the rooms are laid out.
Here's a perspective shot of the living room windows, or what you would see walking into the living room!

I hope your enjoying where it's going, I still have a few changes in mind:
  • I'd like to add brighter, patterned curtain panels (still keeping the white at the top).
  • I'd like to get a slightly smaller T.V. (I still can't believe Lee agreed to this :)
  • Add cabinets on either side of the fireplace . . . maybe I'm still not sure how that will work, they'll have to be very narrow but still deep enough to hold the media equipment.
  • A couple more piece of artwork (my favorite)
I also moved the fern from the library, into the Living Room. Since in less than a month the Christmas Tree will be in the library, I thought now would be a good time to take it out and get it use to a new space. I'm kinda loving it's new home . . . might be a permanent move :)

  2. Wow. This is beautiful. At first glance, I thought you were sharing pics from Pinterest, not your own living room.

  5. Totally silly question: But how have you put your fern in that basket where it doesn't leak all over the place? Have you put a plate under the pot inside the basket? and PS- the ottoman looks fabulous- I have been scared to take on sewing projects outside of pillows, but if you can do it, maybe I can too!

I just love that big white clock. Is that a DIY project or did you buy it? I'd love to have one just like it.

  10. Ashli, Your home is so beautiful and homey feeling. It looks like a model home. If ever you want to jump over the border and come to Wisconsin, you are welcome to help me tweak my house!! You have amazing taste!!

  11. Alana- The basket was from Homesense, But any old basket would do :)
Allison- the fern is in a pot, and there is a dish with sides under the pot so any water that leaks out will be caught by the dish :)
    Hope that helps
Thanks for all the living room love :)

  12. Ashli - the room is light and fresh and happy...it's got your personality all over it. Only thing to improve the pic would be the darling Max front and center :-)
I'm going crazy to see Lee's sliding barn door, too! Ali

  17. Such an absolutely stunning and restful space! Built-in cabinets on the sides of your fireplace would look fantastic. You can never have enough concealed storage.

btw - there is no way I could get hubby to agree to a smaller tv...its bigger the better in his mind. lol.

  22. Thanks, Ashli. Any old basket will do, that's true, it's finding one big enough which will be tricky. I'll keep my eyes peeled at Home sense. Thanks again!

  26. How do you keep your fern alive inside? I guess living in Louisiana means keeping all windows covered at all times of the day because it gets entirely too hot and that, unfortunately means no plants can live inside.
