Our Christmas tree is in a Garbage Can!

This will only make sense if you play the tune of Oh Christmas Tree in your head ;).

Oh Christmas Tree, Tiny Christmas Tree.
How lovely are your branches.

Your branches are so very small.
Overall you're not very tall.

Oh Christmas Tree,  Christmas Tree
You are so very Lovely!

We have a tiny Christmas Tree. Like Really tiny . . . like a Max sized Christmas tree. Hauling out 12 feet of Christmas tree like we have here and here, wasn't going to work for us this year . . . because of a BIG (like super big) project in the Office/Library we have planned to carry out over the Christmas break!

So without further ado . . . here's our Christmas Tree, our tiny Christmas tree.
This year we added a Faith sign, some small white poinsettas, some white ornaments and some very cute pinecone ornaments from the Dollar Giant (4 for $1).
A little Max!
And lastly,
The whole issue of our tree being in a garbage can . . . it's true! Our Tiny Christmas tree is sitting in our powder room garbage can. You see the tree comes in a really UGLY plastic base, so I popped it into our garbage can and it looks way better. The knitted pattern on the sides of the can make it perfect for Christmas :)

Anyone else going TINY for Christmas???

  1. Oh yes we are going tiny this year, too. I just have a small tree on our front porch, in a pot surrounded by white pansies. It has ornaments and a star; it's really cute! And I scaled back on decorations this year, too. Christmas gets to be too much...too much clutter, too much money, too many parties, too much busy-ness, too much everything, so I decided to really simplify and it's so much more peaceful & calming!

  2. What a lovely tree! I love the limited palette.

We are not going small this year, well our tree is not, I am barely five feet tall so let's say I have a bit of a Napoleon complex thing going on with my christmas tree, the bad boy is 8 feet tall. However, with that said I am feeling the whole "less is more" vibe and so we too are simplifying our decorations. BTW I am really digging the garbage pail, what an innovative idea :)

  3. No tiny here. I spent 1/2 day decorating our big tree because my six year old wanted a big tree. Love your tiny tree! Where did you get that very cute wastebasket?

They were going out of business and I managed to grab the last one.

  4. We also scaled back.. but not to the tiny status. We sold on Craigslist our big, very full as in over 5 ft diameter tree for a slightly shorter, slim prelit artificial tree. So much better. :)

I love your little tree. :) I too love it in the basket. The sweater weave pattern is very Christmasy. :)

Hmmm... what are you planning for your office??? ;) Our plan over Christmas week, tiling the bathroom floor. :)

  9. Cute!! I want a tiny Christmas tree in our home - we have a full sized faux tree, but I'm obsessed with trees and could always use more! :)

  10. Ok, can I one up ya? Ours currently is sitting in a Home Depot orange bucket on our back patio! LOL Mark and I picked it out the other day because I will be swamped this weekend with the event (is it Monday yet?). It is smaller than the usual (we picked it, not the girls ;-) But, still a good 8-9 feet. Hoping it gets decorated before Kate comes home from college next Wednesday! Can't wait to see what you two are up to!

  12. Where do you get your craft paper? I'd love to get a huge roll of it for wrapping but can't seem to find it anywhere!

    1. Staples sells rolls of it! And most post offices will sell rolls of it!!
But staples definitely sells it, I saw it there yesterday!
      Hope that helps

    1. It was a clearance find at Zellers!
But it would also work with a plain old garbage can, and pick up an old sweater from the thrift store and wrap it around!
      Hope that helps a bit.

  14. I love small trees! They are easy and inexpensive to decorate. Ours is 3ft tall this year. We live in an apartment and its so much easier to bring home and once the holidays are over, we just pick it up and away it goes!!! Maybe you can pick and take a look at http://uno-home.blogspot.com/2012/12/merry-bright.html
My favorite detail is how you placed it above the chair. It gave it charm!
