A bedroom fit for Fall

We might be on Flannel overload! My favorite season is Fall. The cooler weather, the crisp air . . . the pumpkin spice lattes :). I especially love fall colors and textures. Adding all the layering and cozy fabrics is my idea of "home".

I started in the bedroom! I love flannel! It might not be the most luxurious of fabrics but I love it!
We've always switched over to flannel sheets for the fall or winter months, but we've never had a bed FULL of flannel before. By full of flannel I mean, sheets, pillow cases, duvet cover, euro shams the whole she-bang.

This idea was easier said than done. Finding a reasonably priced flannel duvet cover was next to impossible. I didn't say a flannel duvet cover . . . I said a reasonably priced flannel duvet cover! And just to be clear I don't consider anything over $150 in flannel to be reasonable! :)

I ended up finding $25 flannel sheets at target (that's $25 for any size, so with our king sized bed I felt like I was getting an extra good deal). They were a little more . . . let's say "MANLY" then I thought I would like.
But somehow the Big Bold Plaid appealed to the Fall Lover in myself . . . and you know Lee loves it! So we went with PLAID!
Since target didn't sell it in a duvet cover I had an idea. What is a duvet cover but two flat sheets sewn together? So I picked up two sets of sheets, at $25 each that would total $50 for a flannel duvet cover, 4 pillow cases, a spare fitted sheet and enough fabric to make 3 euro shams! All for $50! And seriously, if you can sew a moderately straight line, you can make a duvet cover!
And an envelope slip cover for your chair ;).
I'm not going to lie . . . it is seriously cozy up in here!! ;)

  1. I love it so much - I wish that it got cold enough here in Texas for me to warrant something like this!

  6. Love it, pinned it! We have the same bed, so I always look forward to seeing how you style it. How did you get the Target sheets if you don't mind me asking? They don't ship to Canada, do they?

    1. I know the answer to that! She crosses the border as she lives near enough to make it worthwhile. Tee hee!

    2. Laura is right, we live really close to the American/Canadian border so about once a month we go across and pick up supplies from Target, Jo Ann fabrics :).

  8. Love that! My husband and I were at Target this weekend and he commented on a similar looking set of sheets that he would love if we had those in our bedroom. I may have to take the plunge...although it is still quite hot in Texas!

  10. SO going to do this for our bedroom in the cabin we just bought! Any tips/tricks for making the duvet cover? (How did you close the 4th end?) And any tips for keeping the comforter in place inside the cover?

    1. Not really, I just sewed the three sides together!
And for the 4th end we just left it open. Because our duvet gets tucked over the edge between the mattress and the foot board! :)
      Hope that helps a bit!

  15. Loving the fall look on the bed. I love flannel sheets. I live in Florida and I sleep on them year round. They keep me warm in the winter and cool in the summer. I buy Northern Nights bed sheets. They are my favorite.

  18. Love the fall look in your bedroom, so cozy. I wish I could convince the hubs that we need flannel sheets during our Alberta winters, but that will never happen.
Max is so cute. All he needs is a tiny down vest to complete the picture.

  21. So pretty and cozy!! A question for you - what color is on your dining room ceiling and kitchen ceiling? Walls are Mourning Dove, right? Looks like the ceiling is a different color?

    Thank you!
