Bench gone WILD

Please excuse the look of the site right now, we're having some Technical Difficulties, to say the least, everything should be back up and normal later today! Thank you for your patience!!

Remember a couple weeks ago, I shared a bench we found on craigslist for $20? Well I have to tell you two things about it:
  1. It is a reproduction not an actual antique.
  2. It's Now Turquoise!!!
I tried to color match the bench as closely to the washer and dryer as I could. The closest match I could find was Martha Stewart's PLUMAGE color.
I LOVE pieces with traditional lines painted in modern colors. And although I am usually partial to neutral colors, it's nice to have another bright item in the house!
We took the hooks that use to be there, and installed them on the mirror of the bench.
Lastly, the seat lifts up, and for the summer we are storing our essentials, beach towels and sunscreen. But when winter rolls around we'll swap them out for scarves, mittens and toques.
It's only been a week but I'm seriously loving it's new bright and cheery facade. I hope you like it too!!

  7. Yes, I do like it too. I never would've thought to purchase this chair (its a chair, not a bench, right?) with its funky shape. You funked it up even more though, and it really works! You have a good eye.

  13. I love how the bold colour has emphasised the sort of alienesque lines of the bench - it's like a super subtle nod to geekery. Plus, it's really cute! Way better in this colour than in white :-)

  15. It's brilliant! Wish I wasn't colour phobic in my own home. It adds a touch of whimsy and bold. "Wow Factor"!

  16. I didn't really like it when you purchased it, thought it looked like an item of furniture for a little girl, Beauty and the Beast style .. BUT it really looks all grown up now, not at all cartoonish and perfect in your laundry room.

  19. I was so suprised when I saw this blue chair on your blog. The exact same chair has been in my family since before I was born. It is now living in my mom's mudroom. The blue looks awesome on it. I never would have thought to paint it. Ours is just stained wood. Great find! I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as we have.
