One thing I hate about Blogs

If I had to choose one thing I hate about blogs it would have to be all the amazing things that everyone else finds on craigslist for super cheap.
It seems I can't go a day without some one sharing the most amazing dresser or dining set they found on craigslist for $1.50 (I might be exaggerating . . . slightly). While at the exact same time I will be scouring craigslist for something, and while they're driving home their amazing new eames chair for $40, I'm stuck haggling with the guy selling a used billy bookcase for $95 because "Dude, it like totally still works"

Side Story: When we were looking for living room chairs off craigslist we went to see one and  bottom of it was broken threw and looked like someones pet T-Rex had used it as a chew toy. Lee said I don't know it looks pretty beat up under there, the guys response was "Duuuude, it like totally still works" Seriously I laughed so hard . . . once we got back to the car . . . without the chair!

But today . . . today I am victorious! I get to be the thing about blogs that I hate!!!! That last part sounded better in my head :S
We picked this up last night! I just have a quick picture of it sitting in the sellers garage but this is it . . . he came home with us! The coolest bench ever!
And this is the part that will usually send me into a downward spiral of self pity about why I can't find anything for that price on craigslist . . . . I only paid . . . . $20 for him!!!

He's a little rough but we're going to clean him up this weekend . . . maybe give him a fresh coat of paint!!! And should have some fabulous new photos to share of him in his new home, maybe with some new paint.
*Check out that dresser in the back too . . . . it was on sale for $40, but we have no where to put it . . . although I wracked my brain long and hard trying to think of a spot for it! ;)

Hope you have a Great Weekend!!!!

p.s. You may have noticed something new on our sidebar . . . it's a Feng Shui Video tip of the day!!! I have a serious love of feng shui (more on that next week) and I thought a super simple video tip would be helpful to any of our readers looking to learn more about it. But make sure to check back next week for our post . . . even Lee got on board with feng shui!! :P

  5. Ha, you sound just like Elie! She is always searching Craigslist and can never find what she wants, but everyone else seems to!! Love the giant chair, perfect for Lee, LOL

  6. Oooh what an interesting whimsical chair, I can't wait to see it revamped! And I must say I agree with you 100% on the craigslist thing, being in a small town it's that much harder!!! I can't even find the most basic of crafts supplies sometimes around here!

  7. Love your find! Also same here in Kentucky (USA),I also hear about people finding stuff in perfect condition thrown on the side of the road. I went o Goodwill looking for a twin bed and found one but they wanted $75.00 for it! and it needed to be painted. Go figure.

  9. I saw that on craigslist but had no where to put it!! Love it.

The reason we can't find deals is because its' Vancouver! Top dollar for everything. It is super frustrating but we are blessed because we get to live here :)

  10. I'm one of those people who shares my awesome deals. Just remember the deals you see are the deals I share. The ones where I pay too much for something...well, those don't make the blog! :)

  13. Take comfort that most of the furniture from Craig's list will have bed bugs in it.

  15. It looks just like something straight out of beauty and the beast! I think it would look nice in a young girls bedroom, but I just don't know about an adult room. I usually think you have wonderful taste, this time it just isn't my cup of tea. I'll reserve my final opinion until you have worked your magic on it and it has found a home in your home, because I am sure you can make it work.

  16. I feel like that sometimes. When I search for items on Craigslist, the items are in crappy condition or the person is selling it for slightly less than what I can get a brand new one for. Good score for you!

  17. Oh forgot to also add, its a lovely piece. Enjoy it!

  18. Oh, I so hear you on the deal envy. I went up to the 400 Antique Market in Barrie over the weekend, and found bookshelves on sale at Canadian Tire for $15 selling at the market for $30 (seriously?) and a plastic silver bracelet marked 'Claires' (an accessories store with prices rarely over $10) selling for $25. I left very disappointed...
