A day in the life of Max

My name's Max this is my life:
6:30 am Lee takes Max out for a pee. He literally has to pick him up, carry him outside and put him down in the grass or Max won't go.
Max runs full tilt back into the house and up the stairs, barks at the bed until I wake up and put him back in the bed.

8:30am Max jumps up at the first sign that I might be thinking about getting up. I usually pull him under the covers with me and we'll close our eyes for another 30 minutes.

9:00am Max eats a little food, takes another little pee, then curls up on my lap while I work on blog posts.

11:00 am I kick Max off my lap so I can do some chores, if it's cold out he will immediately find the fire place,.
If it's warm he'll spend the rest of his morning following me around room to room while I clean. Sometimes I'll pop down a piece of dehydrated chicken for him to chew on . . . errrr . . . he only has 3 teeth but he still likes to suck on it . . . so I should say a piece to gum on! :)
12:00 pm My sister and her dog stop by for Lunch so Max gets a good play in with his cousin Luna.
2:00 pm He'll give me the saddest puppy dog eyes when I leave to run errands. But he's already tired from his morning and will probably nap while I'm gone.
4:00 pm Lee's home so it's time to grab a toy and PLAY!!!
4:30 pm I'm taking photos so that's Max's cue to stick his cute little face in front of the camera! He's ruined countless amounts of photos by popping his head up just as the camera goes off.
5:00 pm Max eats while we're eating . . . we started feeding him at the same time we eat so that he doesn't beg for food. Sometimes it works . . . sometimes he still begs and then eats his own food when we're done.

6:00 pm WALK TIME!!! When 6 pm hits you can find Max by the front door waiting to be taken for his walk. Up the block, down 3 blocks then back home.
7:00 pm Tired from his walk,  he might hang out on the couch with Lee and help him do some work on the computer.

8:00 pm Falls asleep on the couch, beside Lee.
And just for fun I thought I would add in Max playing his favorite game with his favorite toy!!!

  27. We have Yorkie named Emme. Max is too cute for words. I was wondering about the dehydrated chicken strip he has, what brand, where to buy? Our little one loves the tiny rawhide bones but we had a scare a few years ago that they thought was a blockage caused by one so the vet said we should not give them to her. I'm thinking the strips you have may be better???? Thanks!

    1. Hi Terri,
Our vet told us that raw hide wasn't good for most dogs and especially small dogs, because of blockages. So we've always given max Dehydrated Chicken Strips . . . They don't have a brand they are made by a local company here in Vancouver. But we have a friend who's a vet and says that they're all the same . . . they're just dehydrated chicken strips!
But they only expand a little bit, not like raw hide!
And the puppies just LOVE it! haha
      Lots of Love

  35. Honestly, you MUST watch those blue chickens every second and teach them who is the boss around there! (So funny!) Many thanks for the day in the life of Max. The shot of him in front of the fireplace...you need to frame it! Great post.

  36. Ashli...little Max is the cutest thing! Well....almost the cutest. See, I have a yorkie also, named Max, who's pretty cute, too...and my name is... Ashley. As I read about Max's day, I could completely relate. My Max doesn't like his morning pee time very much, he barks until I help him back up on the bed to sleep, if he thinks I'm about to wake up, he paws at me until I acknowledge him, he grabs a toy to "show off" whenever we get home from work, and he paws and barks at his toys like the video.
Yorkies have the biggest personalities in those little bodies, don't they?
I loved reading about Max (that tongue!!!! So adorable!) and your blog is awesome. I've learned lots of great things from you, and really enjoy seeing a little piece of your home and lifestyle.
    Keep up the good work.

  41. Our 85lb lab does the same thing with the last bit of his rawhide bones... we've started to think it "speaks" to him, potentially mocking him, to deserve being plucked up and thrown across the room, it's just that we are not atuned to hear it.

I once read a magnet that said, "Be the kind of person your dog thinks you are." I certainly hope I am living a good enough life to come back as a dog like Max - adorable and loved!

  44. Oh my God, that video is absolutely hilarious! I love Max! He is so cute! <3

Are those chicken treats from Costco by chance? Or manufactured in China? We used to give our dog Kingdom (or something like that) chicken jerky, until we found out it was causing kidney failure and other various problems in dogs. Unfortunately some of them are dying because of eating the treats :(

I know you love Max as much as I love my doggie, so I thought I'd put that out there if you hadn't heard of this before.

    1. I just saw your comment saying the jerky is made locally. I'm sure it's perfectly safe, then! The problem was with jerky made over seas and treated with irradiation.

    2. Hi Steph,
Ours are made from a local butcher. They really are just Dehydrated chicken! But I heard about that too!!!
Max can't actually eat it anyways, he just sucks on them for an hour. Poor little guy doesn't have enough teeth to eat it! haha
