Master Bathroom

I am CRAZY about trays as you can see from our Boot Tray post, our powder room tray, and the tray beside the stove. I think that a beautiful white porcelain tray not only looks fabulous, but it protects our surfaces. Which is definitely important on granite counters but also important on tile counters because grout is super porous.
We have a large tub 'deck' which is super handy, but it always looked messy because we would (meaning I would, Lee has one bath product beside the tub . . . it's called soap) leave all my bath products around the tub deck. I found this round tray at Superstore and it fit with about 2 cm to spare! It's perfect!!!

I don't have many bath products, a special exfoliating mask (from the dermatologist, I have sensitive skin), an organic skin cleanser made by Boots (found at Target), and some extra soap because getting out of a warm tub to get a new bar of soap sucks!
Oh and of coarse Fresh Flowers . . . I bathe daily beside fresh flowers, me, Oprah and the Queen have so much in common ;) hehe just kidding.

Now a little bit about the bathroom layout and the rest of Master Bath Redo plans.
This half of our bathroom is made up of the TUB and the Shower. The shower is AWESOME, I always thought that a shower bathtub combination was A-Ok but it was before I knew the joy of a separate shower, it's . . . it's just plain awesome. There is so much more room, I know it's not always possible to have a separate shower but if it is I would definitely put one in again.

Now onto something I would never put in again (Note: this was a builder choice NOT ours) a two person TUB! Never again!
First It's a HUGE pain to clean! I have to take off my socks, roll up my pants and clean the tub while standing in it!
(Please excuse the color difference, I'm still figuring out the new camera, the picture on the right is how the tile actually looks ;)

Two it's a HUGE waste of water, I'm a bath person, so to have a bath in this tub by myself is a BIG waste of water. I guess maybe it depends on how much you bathe with your spouse but I definitely wouldn't recommend a two person tub!

So what's left:
-Artwork or something to hang over the tub, maybe a mirror.
-New Towel bars, toilet paper dispenser, and hand towel holder
-Some hooks for wet towels
-New toothbrush holder
-Some Serious cabinet organization
-New light over the mirror and sink
&
-Maybe a new light fixture above the tub.
-And one day in the far far future I would like to replace our giant mirror with a round multifaceted mirror!!

So that's where we are so far in the Master Bath. I'm hoping to have the rest of it done by MONDAY! But so far I am LOVING the Sharkey Grey wall color, everything looks so much  nicer and sparklier  against the grey!

  1. I am all for trays! When we had our Master Bath repainted I added a glass wall shelf near our tub as well. It is great for holding extras near the tub without the risk of them getting wet (and great for a candle too). I am with you on the tub thing. By the time ours is filled the water has run cold!! LOL Such a waste. Can't wait to see everything as I know it will be inspiring as usual!!

  2. I'm a shower person but sometimes I wosh I had a tub in our ensuite so I can get away from kids. I can't wait to see what else you do in the space.

  3. I have the same tub and really only use it for the kids (which is awesome actually) but I don't know if I would even bother with a tub in the en suite at all next time. I would rather a bigger shower area with no doors. One of those shower rooms. I hate cleaning the glass doors more than I hate cleaning the huge tub! :)

  4. Hi Ashli! Love the tulips! One question...how do you keep your shower doors so nice and clean? Ours were not too clean from the previous owners of our house and I don't know how to get them sparkling! I've tried vinegar, baking soda, lemon, etc. Do you have any tips?

    1. I DO have one GREAT totally weird tip for getting shower glass clean. I could never get the glass clean, no matter how much scrubbing it was impossible! The ONLY think that works is . . . . a Bounce Sheet (you know from the dryer). Take a bounce sheet make it a little wet, if you shower is a bit wet that will do. Then clean the shower glass with the bounce sheet! Make sure to wear gloves because they have lots of chemicals in them, and make sure to rinse off all the residue or you'll have a very streeky shower! Give it a try it works so amazingly!!!

  5. Looks beautiful! I too, love a separate bath/shower...so nice. Now I've just gotta go get some fresh flowers from outside so I can be like you, Oprah, and the Queen ;-)!

  6. Love the tray and the cute things on it. I would have to agree on the double bath being a waste as well because in my previous house had the big double spa bath however it took 20 mins of water flowing to get it to a decent level which when Queensland was in dought was not really good to do and how many people have an extra 20 mins up their sleeve to fill a bath. Queensland is of course no longer in dought and mostly flood 2010 and 2011 but I now have a smaller bath at the new house.

  7. Ooh...your bathroom looks amazing Ashli! I used Sharkey Grey in the living room of my former condo; and, then mixed it with another Martha Stewart paint for my bathroom. I absolutely love Martha's paint collection. he colours are amazing and what you see on the chip is what you get! Cheers!

  8. Very lovely Ashli! I'm loving the Sharkey Gray too. I can't help but chuckle at the picture I have in my head with you and rolled up jeans sweating away cleaning that darn tub. Sorry..... I couldn't help it. I laugh because I think we all have our struggles reaching into those darn tubs!!

    1. Hi Becky,
Sorry, I have no idea what the wall tile is. Our builder gave us a couple samples to choose from and those are the ones we chose.
I agree picking tiles is hard, I don't particularly enjoy it either!
