Living Room Plans

Occasionally I'll see our living room pop up on Pinterest, and no matter how many green pillows or how many bright accessories there are people always call it a NEUTRAL space. Our Living Room EATS color, I could put a 6 foot tall eggplant in the middle of the room and people would still look at the living room and think . . . gee that's a nice beige room :)
So, if you can't beat'em, join'em!
Starting with some new pillows I'll be 'Neutralizing' our Living Room. I've noticed (from flipping through my pinterest boards) that I'm really drawn to more masculine, neutral rooms . . . with Lots of texture and pattern. My new Lamps were the jumping off point for a more rustic scheme.

It seems like I was always headed this way because there really aren't any large costs associated with this change (much to Lee's relief). This change is going to be all in the accessories.
You caught a sneak peek of our new pillows last week, but here's the plan from here on in:

So for everyone who  thinks Beige is Boring . . . I'm hoping to share that Beige can Be BOLD!!!

  3. Another vote for beige. ;-)

I think it works for us because we love natural and textural elements. And it is easy to add bits of seasonal color.

  6. Everything you do *always* looks nice, but I must admit to really liking the fresh pops of green you were including. In fact I liked them so much I started using that as an accent color in my own house, so thanks! Oh and I call dibs on the green lamps, LOL! he he he ;o)

  7. Love what you've put together. I could easily transform our family to that palette as well. We have beige walls, white trim and dark chocolate as well (mantle, entertainment center). Very rich looking, and perfect for the winter months.

  10. I love your living room! There is definitely nothing wrong with neutral, I tend to stick to it myself so I'm excited to see what changes you make so that maybe I can use some of them myself!

  13. I really like your blog. I am still renting unfortunately but I so look forward to the day I own my own place and can do more 'permanent' changes like put in pot organizers into cupboards which will hopefully be larger than the ones I have now. So jealous of you. I also which I could stay at home. You're so lucky

  17. Ashli, beige is definitely NOT boring, it is such a good color to combine. I love it and have it in our living/dining room, too. I love to add fresh greens with it and just one or two things in bright red as well.
