Thanksgiving

Thank you so much to everyone who sent us good wishes for a trouble free Thanksgiving Dinner. The only "issue" was we ran out of gravy for the ones who went up for seconds :). Over all a successful Thanksgiving Dinner!

If you remember from our first thanksgiving post I had purchased some fabric with big orange flowers on it ? I was planning on making large runners out of it, but since we only needed a 6 foot table instead of a 12 foot table I had more than enough fabric for a whole table cloth.

I added three mums in some white ikea vases, I was planning on using pumpkins as vases but it was going to be another $20 for pumpkins . . . so they got the chop :)
Some rented folding chairs and found some white dishes for a steal ($5 for 6 plates . . . SCORE!) and the first table was set.

We had some extra fabric enough for two small runners for our dining table!
Since they were side by side I thought a similar fabric on each table would make it so that they match without being . . . you know . . . matchy matchy!!

I had trouble deciding on a center piece . . . it was between a red mum with a burlap ribbon,

and a two-tiered stand with apples,

. . . the apples won!!
I did find a use for the mum . . . it was beautiful beside the pies :)

For the napkins we went with . . . chocolate brown!!!

So that was our thanksgiving . . . Lee didn't burn the house down with the Turkey Deep Fryer (p.s. deep fried turkey = YUM), and everyone ate until until we all looked pregnant!

I wanted to thank everyone who voted on napkin colors and everyone who sent me a stuffing recipe!!! You're all the Best!! Thank you!!!!

  13. Show the "real" pictures....mountains of dirty dishes piled up, leftovers scattered everywhere, makeshift seating with mismatched chairs etc. I think you sometimes try to come off as June Cleaver here...I know folks want inspiration from a blog such as yours but some "realness" thrown into the mix every now and then doesn't hurt. Do you guys have the American tradition of Black Friday shopping the day after Thanksgiving?

  14. Honestly Lee did all of the dishes right after dinner . . . The only thing we have left is a big pot of dirty turkey oil . . . I don't think anyone wants to see that.
    And
No here in Canada we don't have Black Friday or anything like that . . . although me and my mom went shopping the next day :) that totally counts :)
