Breaking News!!!

We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming for breaking news!
WE BOUGHT THE NEXT MANOR!!! WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!!
We removed subjects today and take possession near the end of OCTOBER!!!! eeeeek!!!
I couldn't wait to share the news with all our fabulous readers, all of whom have been so supportive and sent so many kind words and encouragement our way!! We cannot thank you enough :)
So without further adieu here is the NEW Maillardville Manor: (sorry for the poor quality picture it was dark by the time we left, although I could have stayed there all night)

Again sorry for the poor quality photos but I just couldn't wait an entire month to show you!
So here's the low down on our new diggs.  It's just shy of 3000 sqft, 5 bedrooms, 3 1/2 bathrooms fully detached house! It's a brand new house so we will be the first people to have ever put our mark on it! Which is exciting because I believe houses take on the feeling and personality of the people living in it, which can be a great thing or a terrible thing (depending on who lived there). I find it super exciting that we are starting with a clean slate! That has never happened before and I never thought it would happen :) But thanks to the two most amazing real estate agents we are lucky enough to call this house our home!
LIFE IS GOOD!
I don't really know what else to say about it!
Oh, and it has a front porch, I've always wanted a front porch :)

I also thought I would let you in on the plan for the next few weeks. Because we are moving I haven't had any new projects to show you.
So here's how the next month is going to look. I would like to update you on how packing is going once a week, show you all the empty spaces of the manor, but that leaves me with 4 other posts a week to fill in. What I would love to do, and what would really help me, would be for each of the following 4 weeks focus on one room of the new house and collect photos of inspiration spaces I would like to model my own space after. For example next week could be the dining room and next could be the laundry room! It would really help me decide and plan on what to do in the next house!

And near the end of October, right around Halloween, we will be forced to take a week break from our Beloved Maillardville Manor, while we move and set up house!!!! :) Still soooo excited!
So there is the new Maillardville Manor!! What do you think, again so sorry about the bad photos!

  11. I just found your blog through crafty storage website and read through all the past posts yesterday. I liked the photo of your computer room (or past computer room as the case may be). You are a gifted decorator and you and your husband a lovely young couple. Sincere congrats on your new home and I will be an avid follower! GinaE in Texas

  12. Wow! I love that house! Reminds me of a house I lived in in Germany but much more modern and "west coast". The porch is wonderful...great place for planters and rocking chairs! Love your idea for your next month of blogging. I'd love to see what inspires you...since you inspire me! I'm even making my own laundry soap now!

  14. I stumbled upon your website via young house love and I LOVE your old manor. It's so tastefully done and beautiful and I can't wait to see how you transform a new home now. The house is beautiful btw. Where do you find your inspiration rooms from? I've had a hard time piecing my house together room by room while making it all flow. What are your secrets?

  19. So amazing! I like that even though it's brand new, the outside gives it some character and a hint of "not built in this era." Mind if I ask what state you guys are in? If that's what the homes look like, I wanna move to wherever YOU guys are at!

  20. I just started reading your blog not too long ago and your ideas for organizing and decorating are so inspiring! I was even inspired to actually clean out and organize all my closets :) Can't wait to see what you have planned for your new house! Would love to see if there are any other blogs out there that inspire you, as I totally love your style. Congratulations again!

  22. Thank you so much everyone! We are soooo excited, we took Max to the house yesterday and he spent the entire time running around all the rooms! and poor little guys so tired all hes done today is sleep!
I love Camilla at home for inspiration, she has beautiful photos of beautiful homes! I also love Young House Love, bright, fresh and clean. Home and Harmony and Canadian Cottage are also great blogs a little more rustic then we'll go but beautiful none-the-less and of coarse the Lettered Cottage! I hope to share a lot of our design taste and give you guys a good idea of what the new house is going to look like!
Thank you all again for sharing in our excitement! It's truly a dream come true for us!!!

  23. Thanks Amber, we live in Canada! British Columbia to be specific :)

Jennifer, I can't wait to share all of the place we get our inspiration from! I listed a few above and with each photo I put up I'll make sure to let you know exactly where it came from! As for any secrets to making the house flow, I would just say to take the time and think it through. I think a big reason rooms done by designers look so great is because they take the time and think it through. Most of us accumulate furniture and accessories over time, but with a clear idea of what you want the end result to be will make it all flow. I'll try to elaborate on that in the up coming weeks, and thank you so much for your questions, I can't wait to share the rest of our new house with everyone!!!

  27. I will definitely be sharing some of our moving tips as we go, I don't have any kidlets to move I am sure that makes for about 10 times the amount of work, but I'll let you in on our tips and tricks. Tip number one, have a giant, weightlifting husband so you don't have to help carry the couch :) thanks hunny!

  30. It's gorgeous. :) Is it too creepy stalkerish to say I am feeling genuinely excited to see how your new place develops? I only feel bad for you that winter is coming on so soon so that might limit you a little on the outdoor shots! Congratulations. :)

  37. Congratulations!! Cute house. Have fun packing. I hate moving so I do not envy you right now. :P And I know what you mean about the personality of the house and all. Our house was built in 1969 and when we first moved in, I got a bad vibe from a couple rooms. Fine for the most part now though.

  38. I was never able to comment from work, so I had to take the time to let you know your current house is absolutely amazing, so I can only imagine what you guys will do with this one. A porch is also high on my list. Congratulations on your new house!!!!

  42. Loved finding your blog and reading this post! Congratulations on your new home, it looks lovely and from the little I've seen so far on your blog I know you will make it beautiful and yours.

I too think houses reflect who has lived there, I once lived in the happiest 100 year old home in San Francisco which was a pure delight. But when we purchased our second home, a resale, I spent the first 6 months in the home attempting to erase the presence of the previous owners, who had left a lot of anger in the home...really! It made me regret buying the house at times, but by the time we left it felt immensely better! Janell
